Due to impact of western culture in the art field, many types of Indian rural arts have vanished, however a style known as ‘Chitrakathi still exists at the village level .I have worked in the same style giving it a contemporary touch. I started working in the same style by using different types of natural colors extracted from different flowers, leaves, earth pigments etc. My journey of art is more intended towards cultural development of this ‘Chitrakathi paintings .For last twenty five years ,I am working in the Indian style ,after finishing G.D.Art from J.J School of Arts ,Mumbai.
Further though I have tried to maintain the style of paintings of ‘Chitrakathi’ the subjects are of contemporary day to day life for e.g. Working lady in time wheel, Tantrik Symbols in ‘Chitrakathi’ style, Children playing with latest toys etc.
I believe that history of civilization is the progressive reading of spirit and we should not forget the art of our ancestors, but take the same forward along with time.
